G. Boutwell - "Official Artist of Texas"

(Above) The "Official Artist of Texas" G. Boutwell, presents Governor Rick Perry with the first "Treasures of Texas" print in a limited edition of 1,845. We are currently seeking a proclamation to declare "Treasures of Texas" as the "Official Painting of Texas."
"The Limited Edition is sold FRAMED ONLY for $199 and has cut outs in the mats that feature the Title, Texas flag, Texas seal and both sides of the Texas quarter. I told them that they were selling this too cheap considering the elaborate matting but due to all being framed and matted the same they can offer it for the low price of $199." Artist - G. Boutwell
After his mothers untimely death in 1945, he and his father travelled the country. By the time he started the first grade in San Antonio they had lived in Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New York, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, California, and Texas. Mr. Boutwell spent most of his life in Austin and moved to Bosque County in 1987. Mr. Boutwell and his wife Martha live on a ranch near Clifton, in a 1904 Victorian home known as Highview. Their home sits on the crest of a hill overlooking the Bosque River Valley. The Boutwell's have two daughters: Valerie and Kimberlee; two grandsons: Josh and Brady; and one granddaughter, Kaylee. His hobbies and interests include historic preservation, old cars, fossil hunting, and observation of wildlife and longhorn cattle. Mr. Boutwell was the art director for Texas Highways Magazine from 1966 to 1972. This is when he became aware of the diversity of Texas. This awareness became the focus of his life's work. Mr. Boutwell has refused to specialize in one genre of art and only limits the scope of his work to Texas. He has been fortunate enough to make his living exclusively from art for the past 34 years. Mr. Boutwell is one of the most prolific artists in Texas, painting scenes almost exclusively of the Texas landscape. The Texas Commission on the Arts and the Texas State Legislature honored Mr. Boutwell by awarding him the “Official Two-Dimensional Artist of Texas” title for 2006.
