The Kentucky Bass (Micropterus punctulatus), aka Spotted Bass was adopted as Kentucky’s
"Official Fish" in (1956).  The Kentucky Bass is native to the streams of  Kentucky.  This bass is
universally acclaimed for its fighting qualities, and is a prized delicacy, tasting similar to trout.  The
Kentucky bass is related to the largemouth bass.  The state record Kentucky Bass caught in 1970,
weighed seven pounds and ten ounces.
