The Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) became Kentucky’s "Official Wild Animal Game Species"
in (1968).  Its body is adapted for climbing and jumping.  They have sharp claws for gripping and a
long bushy tail for balance.  Some of the squirrels favorite foods are berries, apples, seeds, insects,
deer antlers, and tree buds.  The grey squirrel thrives in the woods and in the cities of  Kentucky.  
Their average life span is eight years.
